raw mats are donated to them for fame. which in turn, at higher levels, allows us to purchase rare materials for crafting. or for selling. donating mats gives fame to a certain level within that NPC's faction. and the Fame needs to exceed 1k, 2k, 3k, 4k etc to unlock the purchasable goods.
